Ideas, Issues and reflections on the Times Are Still Plentiful

North Miami Beach, FL September 25, 2009

Yes there are still lots of things to think and write about.

My problem since suffering a stroke last July 20 is that it meddled with my ability to touch type.  It severely interfered with my daily output of Thinking Allowed essays.  Today's attempt, which is what an essay traditionally means; does NOT signal a return to daily writings.  It seems that a spin-off of the physiological event is that this computer has developed problems which complicate any attempt to revive my routine of sitting in front of this machine to comment or rant depending on the topic du jure. By next month I might have a new computer which might solve the mechanical problems.

Which reminds me - I have been thinking about the wrong-headedness of our government's law makers who are attacking the problem of reform of our health care system.  It is not so much a system for it was  cobbled together of bits and pieces.  It does not need REFORM.  It needs to be CREATED.  And that should not be so hard, since a system already exists which every Senator and House of Representatives member currently enjoys.  I think it is time to expand this system our law makers created for themselves to cover the whole of America and ALL of its citizens.  We should also be kind to foreign visitors in the same way Americans who sojourn in countries that have comprehensive heath systems are cared for.

It is the right thing to do, and way over-due.  Forget reform and create the system that too many ignorantly mistake for Socialism.  Anyone know anything about how that works in other countries from personal experience instead of believing the scare tactics employed to prevent a comprehensive system being put into place NOW?
