Center State Once Again: Michael Jackson

North Miami Beach, FL June 27, 2-009
A.H. Schectman

His was a star personality throughout his 50 years of performing on stages around the world.  He was not the "the King" or "the "Boss".  He was just "Michael" and we all knew who we were talking about.  There have been billions of words to match the billions of dollars that wove in and out of Michael's life.  There will be billions of words more and his death will provide an income without the huge expenses his huge appetites cost during his life-time.

The story of his death - perhaps from drugs - perhaps from a heart attack - dwarfed the other more important news from war fronts; congressional actions and politicians whose peccadillo's continue to titillate us.  The many words that have been crafted to follow an interesting and exceptional life really cannot capture the person who was Michael Jackson, lead singer of the Jackson Five from Gary, Indiana.

I have just listed a few terms which have been used to follow his victories and trials and tribulations.  There will be many more because he was a talented and interesting person.  He will be psychoanalyzed as well as dissected and torn apart to find what made him tick.  What is positive is that he was a STAR in the world of entertainment and, at one time, the cause of immense interest because of his color which changed to a brighter hue than the black with which he was born.  He wasn't even satisfied with his looks that he carved into a caricature that was neither one thing nor another.  He was an original.

I found the following terms from among the different stories about his death and life that followed the center fold reports that he was now gone but not forgotten.

He was: a naïf, androgynous, a keen negotiator and a shrewd investor.  He named two of his children, Prince Michael I and Prince Michael II.  He was addicted to drugs but seen as a hero.  He was the youngest of five but the lead singer.  He created Neverland and authored and was the chief performer of Thriller. He wore a trademark right handed sparkling glove while he worked.  He was accused and acquitted of being a child molester despite his need to have sleep overs with young boys.

He made eccentric purchases while following an eccentric life-style.  His was a STAR image and could be a highly effective deal maker who lived an exorbitantly expensive life style that will cease now that he is dead.  He will be remembered for being innovative, daring, extremely talented, imaginative and interesting.
