The "News" According to R. Limbaugh
Speaking about toilets overflowing into our once pristine waters, I found as I showered this morning while listening to the radio and heard a Sunday sermon delivered by Mr. Toilet Mouth, Rush Limbaugh. He twists; he slights, smirks and uses innuendo as though it was the news that his station is supposed to dispense. I must believe that the owners of 610, "The EIB network (excellence in broadcasting)" allow Mr. Limbaugh and a whole host of clones who work around the clock, to malign, impugn, twist and use repellant hyperbola to NOT report the news, but to give his audience the "news according to R. Limbaugh". This is not news but violently skewed personal opinions with the approval of the network.
My response to what the radio dispenses on this station is often amusement for the exaggeration that cannot be believed. Most often, I ache to be able to shout to the producers of Mr. Limbaugh's "shows" that they must allow dissent, provide for refutation and differing opinions. I don't think they will listen to me since they have already listened to a huge segment of the population that thinks everything Mr. Limbaugh expresses is nothing but the truth. In fact, I am quite certain that he would run for the Republican (read CONSERVATIVE) ticket but only do it to stir things up and if nominated he would not run or serve. He makes too much money in dealing with his brand of the "news". Remember: this is not news but HIS opinion about bits and pieces. For facts read Watchdog Reports by Dan Ricker.
I hunger for the kind of news that used to be the only kind stations sent over the air waves. They were not the OPINION of the broadcaster, but news from respected agencies that had their agents out all over the world to tell us back home folks what was going on in distant places. They also repeated the news as reported by respected journalists who found interesting stories that were not innuendoes but hard facts. If they had no hard facts, they told you what their eyes and ears told them and labeled their stories as opinion.
Mr. Limbaugh does not mean well. He means to be mean and ugly and is lauded for it by the fossilized minds of his regular listeners. Those of us who can tell if something does not sound right will check and see if what is reported is reported the same every where. Mr. Limbaugh does not even select a straightforward event if it involves our new President. He finds something to carp about and definitely distorts the truth, so help him, Rush Limbaugh.
We do need news programs. Early in the morning we get traffic news and places to avoid because of accidents. Breaking stories of "cat killers" and domestic disputes are headlined by 610 and its clones around the country. You should be ashamed if you rely solely on a steady diet of Rush Limbaugh and his cronies.
