The Paranoia of Waiting for My Money

North Miami Beach, FL June 18, 2009
A.H. Schectman

I have made notes on 10 anxious contacts who want me to give them some personal information in order for them to free up millions of pounds (dollars) to
GIVE to me. They are from
China, Africa and points everywhere and they need to bestow upon my person all this money that I deserve somehow.

The 10 diverse individuals sometimes have difficulty with the English language but they all know that they have to get rid of this money which is burning a hole in their pockets and I seem to be the sole beneficiary.  Have you had this experience, too? 10 such offers in just two days - imagine!  And, all are different.

I think I am smart enough not to fall for this transparent trap to get my personal information.  If I send it I am sure I will be inundated with all kinds of offers that I will surely be stupid if I refuse them.  I don't like to feel stupid but I think I am smart enough not to fall for just these 10.  Over the last months I think I have deleted more than a hundred different offers like them.   They all suffer from a deficiency in how to express themselves. However, you must admire the American spirit that drips from each of these e-mails that demonstrates the drive to better themselves by making me rich.

We all know about the guy who wanted to sell tourists the Brooklyn Bridge.  This is akin to that variant of snake oil that will cure you of all kinds of unrelated physical and medical problems.  In a sense it is also very much like the spirited conversationalists, one an announcer and the other the discoverer of an all natural product that will help you in all sorts of way.  He wants to send you ABSOLUTELY FREE a sample that will last you for three months if you just send him that personal information and a few dollars to pay for packing and handling.  I hear these same two and about five other pairs each Saturday morning as I prepare to go and study Torah (Bible) in our Ruach (spiritual) class.

One of my correspondents has warned me that after a date that has passed in June that I will be open to all kinds of advertisements unless I call this special number and register my name.  I did this about a year ago and I still get all the telephone messages from people tying to sell me things.  The differences are between those who want to sell and those who want to give me things.

I really don't want either of the two of this special genre, especially the ones who mysteriously call at 2:00a.m. and wake us up to find no-one on the other end of the call.  It would be nice, though, to receive all those millions.
