Are They Out to Get You, too?

North Miami Beach, FL May 21, 2009
A.H. Schectman

I have to admit it - I am paranoid about the incessant attacks on my privacy that is silent, but no less brazen.  You can turn the sound on television down and a great deal of information will be muzzled - that is good.  We have too much huckstering with colorful and imaginative animation of goods we didn't know we could not get along without until we were told over and over while interrupting a pretty good detective story we had been anticipating.

Now, I printed out a list of the "Best Price on the Net" a pictorial e-mail for the following products:  Viagra, Levitra, Cialis, Viagra soft, and Cialis soft.  "Master card and Visa accepted."  No matter how many times I delete these messages as soon as I recognize their content, they come at me again and again.  I delete them again and again.  You know what they are suggesting, don't you?  They come right out and say that I need these products because of my age and the fact that I am male and must have my overactive drives satisfied so that I can please HER better than ever before.

I discovered today that one of the companies vying for my business actually had a place I could click on that said "unsubscribe".  I did click that word and found myself involved with just more of the same and the implied "SUCKER!" reeking from the text.  You cannot imagine this.  It happens and it seems my e-mail address has been sold to new companies which try to sell me the same services - I will not only improve my sex life but my apparatus will become larger and, of course, bigger is better.

If this is happening to me, can it be happening to you, too?  I wonder.  I get a long list of e-mails addressed to me in various heartfelt terms that I never saw before and I believe they are just version two, three or four of the original one I rejected.  They do not give up.  Are they out to get you, too?

It wouldn't be so bad if it were just a simple - hey, there - you can buy our product more cheaply over the internet and you will get it faster than ever before (suggesting that I cannot live without the Viagra, Cialis etc." My affliction is an ever expanding event that will not go away even though I reply with "unsubscribe" automatically.

I would like to say a word about the fact that I give up receiving millions of US dollars each day from some gents in Africa, Asia and South America.   They have this money that they simply must get rid of and just need my name, social security number and a few dollars to cover expenses.  This daily exercise brings along with it aromas of deceit and willingness to take advantage of a guy my age.
