I was curious about the 'other side' as the enormous celebrations of the Obama win were ongoing today despite the agenda of work on the first workday by the winning team. I found a channel where Sean Hannity was interviewing that omniscient pundit of conservatism, Rush Limbaugh. You can learn a lot by listening to what is being said by the losing team. There is little acceptance and joy in that camp.
First, I learned that while Mr. Obama was now President of all Americans Mr. Limbaugh had serious reservations as to the vetting procedure that all contenders for leadership had to endure. Mr. Limbaugh intimated that Mr. Obama was given a pass and he was not seriously investigated because of his radical associations when a younger man. This was an important enough to disqualify Mr. Obama. Even though he was the first Black President and, of course, the Democratic Party's leader in changing America BACK from the right path; he is accused as the wrong man with the wrong plan. This was done correctly by the Republicans from Mr. Regan and Republican Legislators and Courts to this time when a continental shift is sure to be made. Mr. Limbaugh and Mr. Hannity are not buying the vast acceptance of this change in leadership.
It is the nature of such transitions for sour grapes to be the standard fare for some time while the new guys get organized. I see by the reports of the immediate work to dismantle much of Mr. Bush's eight years of adherence to privatizing and giving power to exclusively Faith Based initiatives. Guantanamo will be gradually shut down with the rule of law reestablished there for the accused instead of isolation on Americas' Devil Island. And then there are the Banks and Buyouts.
Despite the obvious repudiation of most of the Conservative Republican agenda, Mr. Limbaugh holds true to their tenets. He disbelieves that America will survive under the new leadership. What we have here is the immediate response of the opposition and signals being given that the old guard will not go down willingly nor will it go quietly.
The tearing down is going on right on time as the long sought changes from the Conservative agenda to the new enlightened program begins. It was inevitable and should not be disheartening to the workers who once again try to build up America to where its past is its presence and will be its future if allowed to do so.
Tearing down is easy and happens all the time. The hard work is to build up.
