Our grandson, Josh is marrying Alex at the Breakers in Palm Beach on Carol’s birthday which is the 5th of January, tomorrow, in fact. We were gifted by having our daughter, Karenne, visiting us from South Africa for a day before we leave later on this morning for Palm Beach. She takes great pictures of the flora and fauna surrounding where she lives at the bottom of South Africa on the Indian Ocean. I write this to notify you that there will be no essay on the great issues of the day on Saturday and Sunday, but hopefully will resume on Monday January 7.
Karenne flew up for a month to be with family and to straighten out her pension and benefits with the New York City school system. She stayed with us for one day and one night and it was way too short. I was very pleased to see Carol and Karenne going over pictures and sitting talking about family history. I was lucky to have enough time to sketch her portrait which resembles (sort of) one of Carol which I did some years ago.
Did you know how much baggage you have to take for a short weekend to be part of a wedding? Without the formal clothes, packing would be much easier. And the weather is another pesky thing. We are scheduled to have a wedding rehearsal tonight and the cold front is only abating just a little. Poor us – the pre-nuptial dinner is outdoors.
This is a short message keeping you up-to-date and I will be back at this computer mayhap on Sunday night.
