There are those who are “me first”, liars and dishonest and those who deliberately cause hurt and misery to others.  The world has enough of them and that speaks badly for the rest of us.  I believe that we should have been able to intervene in their lives somehow, somewhere and detected anti-social inclinations and tried to make a difference.  That is because there are so many of us others who are giving, honest and who would never hurt but always want to help others.

Nations are like these classifications, too.  We know those who have reputations of helping others, sparkle with honesty and prevent physical and mental disputations of others just as a matter of course.  It does matter, of course.  Every nation as well as the people living in them speaks to the world from many mouths.  Most have the morality and behavioral issues down pat and say - others may do bad things but we are Godly people. This happens in the public statements and in public dealings with other nations while they are dealing in secret with other bad people who are out for themselves and do not care for the collateral damage they do to the innocent and those who just happen to be in the way of the juggernaut of ambition, greed and opportunity.

Many can honestly say that “I’ve got mine”. Satisfaction is not guaranteed but there are those who need to be aware of the many who have little or nothing.  The selfish do not share.  The mendacious are usually dishonest while the vicious are not unlike the great cats who feed on wary herbivores.  The world can be divided between those who attack and those who retreat.  But when your back is against the wall you look around and see all us “others” who suffer from the selfish, the mendacious and the vicious.  We are quite a numerous lot and together could end selfishness, dishonesty and curb the vicious. It takes unity and truth to face the forces of negativity that hurt us all.

The selfish and mendacious members of humanity see the rest of us as a pool into which they can throw lines with hooks to catch the unwary.  They may be likened as sharks that are at the top of their food chain or the lions who serve the same purpose on land. The cats and sharks are not vicious in the same way as humans are to other humans.

We live in the same place as they do.  The selfish may be in the apartment above or below.  The mendacious may live in a luxurious manor by the sea far from those he feeds upon.  The vicious usually are blamed by those who live well and forget that flaunting riches inspires the have nots to be like them.  Most are satisfied to have enough and do not aspire to riches, fame or notoriety. Just look down at the list of those who exhibit the worst traits of humanity.  They are your neighbors; they could be you.
