It is difficult to write about subjects that automatic e-mail checkers reject without taking the trouble to read all the way through.  There are specific words that are verboten and an entire story is lost because of the instructions put into those checkers.  So, I write with circumspection and hope that – that which must not be named – will be apparent to the reader.

Slavery takes many forms and while illegal, flourishes here in America and heavily in so-called third world nations that are poor and offer no respite to its citizens who are powerless, starve and live lives that you and I would not stand for. The form of slavery that is most despicable is that which forces a large portion of one half of humans into bondage which is solely dependant on their gender.  And the existence of this kind of bondage is because the other half benefits in ways they should be punished for.  Stepping gingerly around this subject makes it hard to write clearly but I hope you get the message.

Men’s guilt in perpetuating this kind of slavery is such that there should be an outcry that holds up ancient practices as totally unworthy of educated and technologically superior societies.  Yet, men are the beneficiaries of bondage for their demands are what feed this shameful industry of trafficking.  Without the needs of men the customs and even the laws of nations look the other way and do nothing to prevent its continuance and spread. Young boys are taught to expect the services of slaves.

Kidnapping and enslavement and control over lives in order to make a profit or sustain a business goes on all the time and we, you and I, understand this but do nothing to end it.

What is hard to understand – if you are not close to this institution – is that the slave will continue to do that which provides a life of sorts – in preference to trying to change for there are no outlets or education that will encourage slaves to revolt or run away or simply refuse to continue in that state.  You and I may not understand this, but beatings, disfigurement and hardships beyond understanding are meted out to keep the slave in that condition. The slave-holders and customers expect services to continue for that is the way their world works.

It is the men who benefit and will not stop demanding the services of such slaves. The law turns its head and, if there is a prosecution involved, the men will be absolved or go unpunished while the slave suffers because what is institutionalized is what makes the world go on in supporting a double standard. This abominable practice has kept the oldest profession run for and by men.
