Hillary R. Clinton, Senator from NY, who reached that position on her own merits despite an imperfect husband is under attack by assertions, assumptions and snickers. These are familiar attacks by organized groups holding power who want to keep it that way. They have the money, the means and the will to destroy rather than enter into debate over honest issues with truth and choose to take the low path used by cowards and the unprincipled. Winning, for them, is everything.
Richard Mellon Scaife, no longer a shadowy money man behind attacks on Democrats and especially the eminence grise behind the “Swift Boat” blast that blew John Kerry out of the water, has the money driving the assertions that HRC is tarred with the same brush as her husband, Kerry and all Democrats. Assertions, assumptions and snickers against HRC’s book, “It Takes a Village” accompanied the guffaws at her own assertion that a “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” is operating in the US fueled by Republican ambitions with Conservative Religious support.
The assumption here is that because she is a woman she will fold and that her femaleness is fair game in the patriarchal apparatus of all parties except for the EMILY’s LIST crowd. The assumption proceeds with the publication of an Anti-Clinton book (that would include a review of her life as wife of a governor and as a First Lady) that is promoted by Scaife clones. That attack was presaged by “gopusa.com”, a Republican web site sending (cost free) a half million messages including the suggestion (assumption) ..”publishing insiders say the book (by Edward Klein) and its revelations could destroy her bid to run for the Presidency in 2008” (NY Times p. A15). This is also an assertion that the same tactics used agains John Kerry will work against this lady. The snickers are that there must be weaknesses that can be blown up into sufficient dirt despite the excellent record amassed by the first term Senator from NY.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is an intelligent, politically savvy woman and a careful campaigner. She can knock down the wall of hatred against her entry in the Presidential arena – if that is where she chooses to go. For some reason this terrifies the assertions and assumptions of her enemies – the same group who tried to bring down Bill Clinton. The snickers have started already proclaiming her ambitions for her because they are afraid of power conceded to her.
The same “destroy and take no prisoners” tactics used by Scaife and other Clinton haters love the bumbling Bushes and want to promote continuance of bad government that brought us war and punishment of the poor, the weak and the needy.
