What are we doing while millions die? Nick Kristof chides the Left (Democrats) for sulking while millions not only die but Christian Conservatives are busying themselves with doing something about it.  Instead of yearning for issues that have gone away with Kerry and (what was his name?) the Christian Right has never faltered in fighting in places such as Darfur where Christians are the Jews, Tutus and Falung Gong in other parts of the world.

Christians, like Communists are not selective in their targets.  They hope to proselytize as they offer bread and living assistance.  The Islamists are NOT selective in accepting as soldiers for their cause, as long as these fighters will fight against a common enemy.  Most coalitions work this way.  We will cease fighting each other while we gang up on a third.

While millions are dying horrible and unspeakable torture in the prelude to death, debate goes on to solve issues of building sports arenas or writing contracts that monopolies will use to enforce the wage slavery of other millions. We have grown so used to the spectacle of death and struggle of ordinary people who in their millions will die at the orders of “leaders” who represent narrow interpretations of what humans can and do to deal with other humans who are different. Examples are simple – the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Coalition in Iraq.

The United States is limping along divided as most of the world is divided.  The forces of secession are almost as strong today as they were at the eve of the American Civil War.  Millions die while struggles to preserve artificial national entities founded when past wars ended. The Chechens are not part of Russia. The Ethnic minorities are not Kosovo. The Christians in Darfur are not the Arabic Muslim militias in Sudan. The Christian Right will try to convert you at the end of the day when you are exhausted from fighting to preserve your identity.

Millions are dying as we watch awards given to entertainers and follow the millions wasted in building bungled sports arenas and then will watch millions spent in enshrining a second term president.  Our priorities have been turned off while a political party brings into being an ethos for twenty-first Century America.  Christian values will be inculcated in millions of children in thousands of schools without a thought for the millions of Americans who died to keep a human face on government and care for the issues of saving the world from those who would despoil it. While millions die we stand, do nothing and watch it happen.
