For a long time now I have been judging outcomes of planned events not in the aggregate of all their details but simply by IF they work.  It only takes one misstep to spoil a carefully plotted event.  One would think that things that do NOT work would prove to be templates that should be removed from planbooks. Here are some things that, like banging your head against the wall, do not work.

1. Palestinians blowing themselves up trying to convince the Israelis to get out of their land.
2. Israelis blowing up Palestinian homes in retaliation.
3. U.S. plans in the Middle East in “friendly” neighboring countries to launch an unpopular war against Iraq.
4. The charge of racism against Israel by Liberals espousing the Palestinian cause to liquidate Israelis and Jews everywhere.
5. Iraq’s claim it does not have weapons of mass destruction.
6. The ability of the U.S. to safeguard its borders against terrorists.
7. Republican claims that they are compassionate.
8. Catholic Bishops’ successes in covering up priestly misconduct.
9. The “warning” system of cool to hot colors to protect us against terrorist attacks.

                          THINGS THAT WILL NOT WORK

You can tell when things get desperate that faulty plans hurriedly made will not work for desperation only works against the thing working.  Here are some things that will not work because – well, because they cannot work.

1. Going back to the time when Japanese Americans were put in concentration camps and treating Iraqi Americans in the same stupid way.
2. Expecting compassion to come from a Supreme Court appointed by Republicans.
3. Reliance solely on oil for energy.
4. Expecting the hole in the Ozone Layer to heal it self and go away.
5. Paying CEO’s of colleges up to half a million dollars a year while using the “slave” labor of graduate assistants to teach the basic courses.
6. Using “State of the Art” voting machines and also expecting the workers who “man” them and the voters who use them to make up for all the registered voters who do not vote.
7. Expecting Black and other minority voters to back the Democrats who have not made their case.
8. Where there are no parking spaces parking where you please.
9. Using a double standard – one for Cubans and – one for Haitians.
