How About Uniforms for Murderers?

North Miami Beach, FL 12-02-02
A.H. Schectman

It is clear that murderers do not want to be recognized for what they are. They do not wear uniforms and look a lot like us.  They want to do their dirty work and then get out – unless they are the suicides who want to take as many others with them as they can.  These murderers do not wear uniforms.  They choose to pose as the innocent civilians they randomly select to slaughter.  They dress as innocent civilians and pose posthumously as soldiers for a just cause.  They do not wear uniforms although their folks at home think of them as soldiers gloriously dying for a cause.  They make themselves into human bombs and senselessly end lives that could be lived for constructive purposes.  The murderers who shoot missiles from hiding places and then run away to murder another day are cowardly murderers.  Soldiers dressed in uniforms come at you dressed for war; this is something quite different.

There are no uniforms for murderers and there are no rules or limits on where they will go to sow destruction.

Buddhist Monks who doused themselves in gasoline and set themselves on fire to protest the Catholic rulers of Thailand a half century ago were making a point.  They were hurting no one but themselves.  I remember this act of self immolation to this day and although horrified by it I respect them for it.  There can be no respect for the endless, mindless and pointless killing not just in Israel but all over the world.

There were two classes of murderers in Mombasa.  One was the suicides who wore their means of destruction and the others were scurrying rats who fired missiles at an airplane and fled the scene leaving their weapons behind.  They left without accomplishing their task but surely will try again. Neither group wore uniforms warning that they were who they were.  To the witnesses in that African country they just looked like Arabs.  Is looking like an Arab a warning that a “soldier without a uniform is out to kill you?

It is clear that children who are urged to throw stones at soldiers are risking being shot.  This is a vastly wrong approach to problem solving by making the problem to be at the expense of a sadly used and abused people. Murderers not wearing uniforms are supplied with the means to do these crimes against humanity by others who are free to plan and arrange for more deaths and destruction.

How about uniforms for this kind of murderer? It would even the odds a bit.
