THINKING ALLOWED Essays on Issues, Ideas and Reflections on the Times. Published now and then. Opinions pro or con are welcome
THINKING ALLOWED WILL SHUT DOWN FOR A WEEK You may not be aware of it but I have been churning out essays at least once each morning and sometimes up to three a day for many years now. I have a routine that fits me and I enjoy what I do and think it may add something to the lives of the people I wish would read and respond to my essays. They are on issues, ideas and upon reflections on the times in which we live. I will not send e-mails from June 1-June 8.
They do not go out as regularly as the above might seem to indicate. I sometimes get into a difficult spot in trying to say something and my proclivity of trying to tell too many stories in too few lines gets in the way. Carol will shoot these down and sometimes she will get her back up about the frequency with which I beat a particular tune on my drum. So, I don't send things out EVERY day.
A few of my "readers" actually read what I write and ask why, when I sometimes have a "dry" period; no essay appears on their daily computer screen. This is gratifying. I do not know if the vast majority of my "readers" think that I am doing a good job and should continue. Only a few complain that there is too much traffic on their screens and "Please take me off your list!"
So, I am shutting down for a week. We are taking our first cruise that will go to San Juan, St. Maartens and other places Carol knows a lot about. I wonder if they will "dress up" beyond my capacity to endure such rituals. I know from an experience 47 years ago when I went to Bermuda that you get chances to eat a lot aboard ship. How does one protect a novice weight loss?
I expect to write and sketch some despite the awesome list of things to do while sailing the Eastern Caribbean. I welcome the break in my activities on behalf of my condominium and hope that there will be someone on my Board of Directors who will take up the slack and be responsible.
Bon Voyage! (Or, are YOU supposed to say that?) Carol's Evaluation: 10 out of 10.
