BASHING
I have been mildly interested in the news that former president William Jefferson Clinton might become a talk show host. This would mean that he would either be on radio or TV, or both, and field telephone calls or visits from celebrities (or others) or thus be on display to an audience that would most surely include you and me. It is the suggestion of a possibility.
The announcement, despite the response from the Clinton "camp" that he would not join NBC or some other station, is just a "feeler", a "testing of the waters", a preliminary outing so to speak, and a most probably definite indication that he WILL do the deed. This is the procedure when new taxes are to be announced. When bad news is known way in advance we are told about it in snippets and allusions - but never out and out directly yes or no. Bill Clinton MAY in the future become a (the figure is $50, 000, 000) highly paid talking head.
Now, this is not about the possibility (and I believe it will happen) of a former president becoming a talk show host. This is about the bashing that is going on interminably by commentators of every stripe about this man who got away with being outrageous as well as demonstrating that he was about the best equipped man ever to occupy the executive office of the American government. I listen to Rush Limbough because here in Florida the only news station is soaked with conservatism. He fulminates and exaggerates and insults egregiously this president as though he still is in office and can be brought down by bringing up Monica over and over. In fact, each of the Bush actions as president is cast as an antidote to Clintonian excesses. Clinton exudes the power to frighten the conservative crowd.
I think that it would be good to hear well spoken, educated and sharply incisive thoughts on the conservative cast to our country. It is about time that the bashing be done by a liberal voice. The wonder is that he stirs fear in the hearts and minds of the conservative minority that stole an election and is busy disassembling a heritage of progressivism. Carol's Evaluation: 10 out of 10.
