Some Obvious Truths

Essays on Issues, Ideas and Reflections on the Times. Published now and then. Opinions pro or con are welcome.
SOME OBVIOUS TRUTHS
1. Israel got there first. That was millennia ago and just a few years ago Jews established the first modern nation in that location.
2. Mohammed never got to Jerusalem. His ascent to heaven on the Al Aksa location, like many Hebrew stories and beliefs, just didn’t happen.
3. The Catholic Church prays a lot for peace. The Vatican, central to Catholicism, made a separate peace with Italy. The Catholic Church probably wishes the Holy Land would go away.
4. Afghanistan is supported by the same poppy (the drug version) as the kind (the fake flower version) worn to support U.S. veterans.
5. The Holocaust Memorial cannot be equated with Arab claims that they have a history like that of the Jews. Mass extermination of Jewish civilian populations is linked to Nazi Germany. The current religious fanaticism of Moslem Clerics, Palestinians and their sympathizers try to reverse the facts and paint themselves as victims.
6. Terrorists who murder by blowing themselves up are assured a place in a heaven not understood or accepted by the rest of the world.
7. Moslem nations refuse to give economic aid to Palestinians who live in “refugee camps”. The individuals who live there now there are not the Palestinians who fled in 1948.
8. The ’48 war did not create “refugee camps.” The neighbors of the Palestinians told them to get out of the way so they could destroy the Jews. The aim then, as now, is to “drive them into the sea.”
9. When you seek to compare the education of young children in Moslem countries with that of countries of the western world, you have to look for the same values. They are not there.
10. The blood shed in this senseless destroy and retaliation game and human terror bombing and response by military occupation does not solve the problem. That is done at a table with equals facing each other working out a compromise.
Carol’s Evaluation: 10 out of 10.
