THINKING ALLOWED IS BACK
I have not been on vacation or gone on a trip. I have not been sick or stopped writing. I have just acquired a new computer and a new operating system. Microsoft XP now lives here.
Anyone who has not been humbled by a machine or by a computer manufacturer and program writers can learn from my experience. One day I will share some of the insights gained from the decision to buy gigs of memory along with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have also had to make decisions to give some things up in order to have more convenience elsewhere.
So, I am back. Like you I have been suffering from masses of instant reportage of violence from all quarters of the world. The anti-U.S. and anti-Israel offensive has been stepped up to the point where you wonder how it got to be this way. All of us are sick of the horror of the many small wars and the senselessness of it all. Little wars have been going on all over the globe and not all are connected to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. It has seemed they are all traceable to the way Moslem nations look at the ownership of the "Holy Land" and particularly since September 11, 2002. Or is it oil?
My personal response is that Israel should stop invading parts of Palestine. The invasion does not counter individual "martyrs" blowing themselves up when infiltrating among innocent citizens. They are waiting until new opportunities arise to become terrorist/martyrs. Life there is cheap. The invasion has only notched up anti Israel/U.S. anger.
The best solution is for Jewish "settlers" to be removed from Palestinian territory. The "Territories" should no longer be thought of as extensions of Israel. Palestinian "Refugees" (since 1948) should finally be sheltered in Moslem countries and the "return" principle abandoned. All right thinking people should oppose bloodletting by anyone. Carol's Evaluation: 9 out of 10.
