I Believe in America

Friday night services tonight were held in the spirit of meeting together to mourn those lost in the attacks on New York, Washington and the aborted crash in Pennsylvania. Sabbath candles are ritually lighted on Friday night at Sundown. Tonight we also lit five Yahrzeit (memorial) candles for those destroyed by the four downed planes and one for ourselves. A song was written late last night and we sang it tonight. I think it is fitting to reprint it here. Debbie is the Synagogue Religious School Principal at Temple Sinai. Harold, who composed the music, is her husband. Where all nations come together To fight their common foe, In the war of good and evil, We reap that which we sow. I believe in America right now. I believe in the power And that goodness will prevail. In spite of what we face Our resolve will never fail. I believe in America She stands for all that's right. I believe in miracles For her ideals we'll always fight. I believe in America right now!
