LIE LIKE A RUG, HIDE LIKE A THIEF
There is an old saying that if you tell a lie you better make it a big one
for most people will be inclined to believe it. But lying is just an
ordinary human response that most people automatically rely on because they
don't believe in telling the truth. There are many plausible reasons for
this behavior. The truth about you may disclose that what you claim about
yourself has been, all along, nothing but a big fat lie.

But, if you think about it, we use lies to cover up things we think will
not be in our best interests. For instance - think about the way the
present administration tells the world at large and those who scrutinize it
carefully that the Bush way has been totally successful in its first months
in power. What you do here is to tell big fibs about the President as a man
of few words. The ones he does use are packed with meaning - we just don't
think hard enough about what he is saying. There is a big crack in the wall
at the White House and a rug has been nailed up over it. Rugs are thought of
as things to walk on but they have other uses.

I don't ordinarily look carefully at the rugs I walk on. If they are
things of beauty and meant to be looked at they are often hung on walls so
we can see them better. But, then the walls behind them are hidden.

Think about the success this administration claims in working with both
Republicans and Democrats - a policy of inclusion, not division. It sounded
good but there is a crack in the unity of the Republicans and in the
solidity of the Democrats. A nice decorative rug has been hung over these
cracks and - that rug lies.

We could investigate further but I think my message is plain. We would
like the truth. Instead we are told stories that cover it up. We are told to
look at the pretty patterns hung up on the wall for us not to see the
problems.

I for one believe that we bought a shoddy rug merchant because if you just
look a little bit harder you will see the cracks the rug is trying to hide.
Carol's Evaluation: 10 out of 10.
