CLEAN UP YOUR MESS, FINISH YOUR JOB

From time immemorial parents have probably said these words to their
children: "Clean up your mess, finish your job." I know I have used them
and they were sadly needed. I have also used them on myself and they were
sadly needed.

For instance, I have almost finished putting my tools away. When we moved
I saved a few and gave all of the heavy machinery to Luiz and scads of
duplicated tools to friends. Despite this, there were those I could not
give away and thought I needed. They were in boxes and laundry baskets and
I found it difficult to catalog and store them in an efficient way. I have
almost finished putting these tools away. They are no longer scattered
around since I stirred myself to buy a big storage box and now have a tool
chest. I still have to organize them and maybe get rid of some - maybe.

Other instances are the stories I have started and have not finished. They
languish in my computer and for one reason or another (lack of research and
ingenuity) there they remain. I did flirt with the Internet last night and
found a new piece of information about Iraq that solves one of the main
stumbling blocks to continue with the story of "Nebuchadnezzar's Pillar".
The location of this monument was always a problem because the King decreed
it to be set up in the "Plains of Dura." You can check this out in your copy
of the Gideon Bible (I can't find all the other Bibles I collected and
thought I brought down here with me. I may have given them to the new Day
School Library at Temple Sinai). It is inscribed in the Hebrew Bible in
Daniel, 3,1 and I have wondered for years where that "Dura" was.

Because of my interest in Archaeology and antiquity I have been aware of
the findings of structures, mosaics and paintings at "Dura Europos" on the
Euphrates but never made the connection. I think I can go on and invent
something that may bring closure to this story. It is funny how bits and
pieces keep occurring to me and how placing this "Pillar" at Dura Europos
may make finishing my job possible.
Carol's Evaluation:10 out of 10.
