Some Random Reflections

then, Opinions pro or con are welcome.
SOME RANDOM REFLECTIONS

Far removed from the events of which I now speak, I am therefore highly
qualified to comment about them ("speaking" does not imply knowing the
truth.)

1. MISDIRECTION. The "winners" are having a field day pointing attention
away from their shoddy electoral achievement and towards the way the former
president employed his pardoning prerogative. Point: The power to pardon
has no brake on it from Congress. If criminality was involved by any other
than the president using the pardon, it cannot touch the former president.
Embarrassing, yes - but, what about the election?

2. IRREPARABLE HARM. While we are on this subject, the argument used before
the Supreme Court was that "irreparable harm" would be visited on candidate
Bush if recounting votes was allowed. I can't remember anyone bringing up
the irreparable harm done to Gore by preventing recounting questionable
votes.

3. GLOBAL WARMING. Global warming is not coming - it is here. TRUE! If
the ice cap on Kilimanjaro Mountain will disappear completely in 15 years I
must be glad I live on the 3rd floor.

4. SETTLEMENT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME. The Palestinian population in and
about Israel seems intent to keep the status quo of the INTEFADA intact in
place of sensible leadership and non-violent action. They seem to prefer
continued fratricide, infanticide and self inflicted wounds over settlement.

5. COMPROMISE IS THE NAME OF THE GAME. We make progress (or peace) slowly
for people are unwilling to compromise. Despite each side believing it has
the right, the other side must be listened to. Compromise, to allow the
other side to win something, is a necessity.

6. EXECUTIONS. Zeke was on the platform 13 steps above the crowd. The
Sheriff asked if he had any last words. Zeke looked up at the rope attached
to the gallows above him. He looked down at the large crowd gathered to
watch the entertainment. He then looked over to the Sheriff who held a
lever to open the trapdoor under Zeke. Zeke spoke: "This shore is going to
be a lesson to me." What lesson will watchers learn if allowed to attend the
McVeigh execution?

7. RAP. Have you heard Eminem "rap" or "sing"? I haven't, to my knowledge.
Reflect on the last appointments of new Cardinals by Pope John Paul II.
Those over the age of 80 cannot vote for a new pope when the time comes. I
suggest that those who vote for "Grammy winners" should not be under the age
of 50. What do you think?
Carol's Evaluation:10 out of 10.
