OH, WHAT FUN!
Hasn't the election just concluded been fun? See the lawyers sue. See the
Judges count and a high court change the way things were done. Look at all
the posturing by candidates. Check the behavior of the "media" as it is
blamed for prematurely calling the election. Continue to listen to pundits
trying to understand how it all happened. Follow the prophecies for
disaster. Look forward to the Republican loss of power in the National
Legislature. Anticipate the anti-climax of rulings by the SUPREME Court.
Just think of George W. Bush trying to look presidential. Isn't this just a
whole lot of fun?
Our election will not result in the Unites States (what a misnomer) of
America falling into ruin. I can predict, however, that the stock market
will behave erratically after today. The good folks who got used to seeing
their stock values go up, up, up will not like how the market will go up and
down, up and down. Personally, this isn't funny.
We have been through a lot in the last eight years. A President who
incurred the enmity of conservative Americans by not serving as a military
man won its condemnation by his sexual misbehavior in the hallowed precincts
of the White House. He was impeached but not found guilty of high crimes
and misdemeanors. This affected the election ambitions of his second in
command. His Vice President won slightly more than half of the votes in the
nation and lost the election due to losing slightly less than half the votes
in Florida. How do you like that for a huge joke?
Are we having fun yet?
Seriously, looking ahead we might anticipate that a Bush presidency will
show a seriously unfunny concatenation of governmental lockup by combating
legislators who will try to open the lockbox where the goodies have been
stored. The rest of us will be holding our sides because the pain of dry
heaves is not the same as rib crushing laughter at what we have done to
ourselves. Carol's Evaluation: Carol had mixed feelings about
this one and couldn't grade it. She awarded Floridian politics as very low
grade.
