AGAIN WITH THE GUNS

Carol is out of patience with me again since I want to write one more time
about the subject of "guns".

My report to you on the fast poll just conducted will tell you about the
lack of interest in the subject. Or, it may just be one more piece of
evidence that my essays are routinely unread. Over a hundred e-mails were
sent out but only about 25 responded. Of those there were two confirmed
possessors of guns and glad about it. Most others will not own a gun and
wanted laws passed about it. Even the gun owners were not boosters of
weapons but had traditionally used them, knew how to use them and favored
protection of others against accidents. No one wanted to have guns
available for protection against evil dooers in the sense of a shoot out at
high noon.

What prompts this essay is the letter I received from Wayne LaPierre the
top honcho of the NRA. He sent me a membership card and asked for monetary
support for the NRA as well as my membership swelling the numbers of that
organization. He was willing to send me an NRA cap if I sent my membership
application in right now. For some reason I was pre-approved and thus was
sent the application.

I appreciate the honor but would rather the organization stop this kind of
advertising of itself. If the gun types really want to increase safety
around weapons then they should strive to abolish automatic weapons and
assault weapons and improve their practice of shooting at stationary targets
(the circle kind). If they have a need toward military activities, they
should join the National Guard or one of the Armed Services. But, leave me
alone!

Carol's Evaluation:10 out of 10

(Carol's note: This is absolutely the FINAL essay about guns!!!)

P.S. REMEMBER THE GARAGE SALE. MY PLACE - SAT & SUN.
