Who Is in Charge Here?

WHO IS IN CHARGE HERE?
Looking through the newspaper early this morning I was struck by the notion
that we were in the midst of changes in who or what was in charge in several
of the big news stories.
For instance, President Clinton is still President but his wife and future
Senator, Hillary Rodham Clinton (hereinafter referred to as HILLARY), and
Vice President Al Gore are busy dancing around each other during this
election year. The President is busy in New York trying to hold down oil
prices. Vice President Gore is in New York trying to become President while
ignoring the First Lady and the President. The future Senator from New York
is working to overcome the impression that she knows little of the state she
will represent while steering clear of both her husband and the Vice
President. Who is in charge here?
You and I thought that after the Columbine shooting that there would be
some advance in regulating ownership of guns, right? Not so! It seems that
the NRA is in charge, slowing down such legal proceedings while its own bill
to prevent Gun manufacturers from being sued is speedily moving along. I
believe that people like to own guns but they also want to prevent abuses in
gun ownership producing another Columbine. The NRA wants to become and in
reality is a super governmental agency interfering with the rights of
non-gun owning people. Who is in charge here?
Israel, or the secular government of Israel, wants to institute an early
daylight savings time in that country. Opposing is the religious right
parties who claim that God made one kind of time and as observant religious
people they will have hardships imposed as they go about their business in
praying. Israel is one of the few democratic nations in the world where the
specter of being a theocracy is mostly a reality. In order for there to be
a government in Israel, the non-religious parties of the center must ally
with the ultra religious right in order to provide for a stable government.
Unfortunately, the secular government that wants daylight savings time for
ALL the people has to deal with a small group imposing its way of life on
the majority. Who is in charge here?
Lastly, who is in charge of the Bush presidential campaign? It is funny
that the implacable steamroller effect of all the money his campaign
attracted is not working as well as it seems it should. Charges of
"wimpness", playing to his daddy's name and reputation, and the vagueness of
his knowledge of international affairs have cut down the power of his
redoubtable finances. Can it be that all the name calling by the other
candidates for the nomination of the Republican Party's front runner has cut
the lead of W. Bush? Who is in charge of the Republican Party - money or
quality of its new leader?
