Some Random Observations

then. Opinions pro or con are welcome. SOME RANDOM OBSERVATIONS
There is nothing much in the news today. It seems that the Guru, Greespan,
who has overseen the "Fed" and thus the economy for over 12 years, will
still hold his office. I don't quite understand what it is that the Fed and
Greenspan do to make our economy so healthy - low rate of inflation, low
joblessness and general prosperity - but I will accept these things
graciously.

In fact, his successes cause me not to want to return to my old job of
Professing in order to earn more credits toward a better retirement. In my
last years as a teacher in an institution of higher education I was able to
earn most of the wages upon which pension and SS are based. All those years
as a lowly paid professor (lower than what I would have earned had I stayed
as a teacher in a public high school) I worried being able to afford to stop
work. Alan Greespan is partially responsible for my feeling secure in
retirement.

I notice that the Clinton family is moving to New York. At least their
furniture is there at this time. The wife is changing her voting address to
the Empire State. The husband will remain in Washington with the reminders
of his triumphs and shame. We all wonder if both parties to this marriage
will reside in New York after the husband leaves office.

A little boy who survived while his mother and stepfather died at sea may
be sent back to his father in Cuba. All America has opinions on this one.
I have two questions. How can the United States have a say about his return
to his father? The other is: what does an international Church group have
to do with his eventual destination? Most people who have heard how he was
plucked from the sea and now is happy at play with relatives in Florida,
think he should play and not become an international incident.

Should prisoners who are beaten during a prison riot be recompensed? A
court thinks so. 48 died during those dark days in Attica a quarter of a
century ago. Prison is for convicted criminals. Although they are treated
as animals in cages they should be treated humanely. Curious.
Carol's Evaluation: 10 out of 10.
